Rum, Pum, Pum, DRUM!

The Lions and the Zebras had quite the day!  It began with swimming, moved on to the tree house, continued with a craft and ended with a fantastic interactive African drum presentation by Treva Offutt (a Laurel teacher).  The campers used the drums they had made yesterday during the drum presentation which included three huge drums made from tires!  The campers did different rhythm patterns with their drums and their bodies.  Mrs. Offutt also taught the campers about the names of different drums and rhythm patterns and also about where in Africa each was used.  The campers really had a great time (and so did the counselors)! 

Tomorrow is our field trip to see the Emperor's New Clothes!  Please make sure to wear your green Summer at Laurel t-shirt if you already have one, if not, you will get one tomorrow morning!
