Polar Friday

The youngest campers finished out our Arctic week with some snowy paintings and colorful pictures of the northern lights!  After a long hike in the morning, where they built forts for animals and found matching leaves they were back for their craft.  Each camper carefully drew an Arctic scene complete with polar bears, sled dogs and igloos and painted over them with an Epsom salt solution.  When dry, the Epsom salt creates a crystallized, snowy look.  One of the groups made popcicles yesterday which they enjoyed this afternoon for snack.  At the end of the day they played some games with the other camp groups.  What a great ending to a "cool" week!

We look forward to seeing returning campers on Monday, and wish those not returning a safe and happy rest of the summer!
