High Tide in Hawaii

Aloha!  This week's Magic Tree House campers are feeling Hawaiian as they read High Tide in Hawaii!  In the morning they made sea shell picture frames using shells and silk flowers.  They listened to some real Hawaiian music (both contemporary and traditional) and even tried to hula a little!  For fun, the campers made wands this morning out of sticks and wire because the Magic Tree House books are so magical.  The campers also managed to go to the tree house and creek today which are always very fun!  In the afternoon we played a lot of new and fun group games- including kickball with the Daring Camp.

Tomorrow is swimming, so make sure you wear your bathing suit and bring a towel and change of clothes!  See you then!

Daring Inventors

Our Daring Inventors finished up this week with a blast!  The campers enjoyed, hiking in the woods, playing a game of kickball together, finishing up the board games they invented, having popcorn and playing other people's board games, doing Project Adventure and finally with some water balloon fun at the end of the day with Magic Tree House Camp.  The boys and girls really got creative with their board games and loved playing with their friends on their own game and others- the popcorn didn't hurt either!  I have to say that some of the games were really elaborate and well thought out; with some pretty catchy names!  During Project Adventure they worked as a team on the Tee-Pee Shuffle, Whale Watch and Nitro-Crossing.  Finally as a cool ending to the day they played with water balloons!

We hope to see many of you back for our final week, but if not we wish you a great rest of the summer and a very happy start to what is going to be a fantastic school year!

Magic Tree House Deep Sea Friday

The Magic Tree House Campers were excited to finish up this week of the Dark Day in the Deep Sea.  Each group finished the book today in the tree house, did a crayon resist painting of an underwater scene, went to the creek, played on the playground and ended the day with some water fun!  At the creek we explored and looked for creek critters!  At the playground campers had fun with hula hoops, jump ropes and baseballs.  While doing their painting, campers were encouraged to take their time and add lots of details.  At the end of the day they joined up with Daring Camp for some water balloons.  What a great ending to the week!

We hope that we will see many of you next week for our LAST WEEK OF CAMP (can you even believe it?!?!)!!!  If not, then we hope you have a great rest of the summer and a great beginning of the school year!

Thursday at Butler Campus

The Butler Campus was certainly busy Thursday!  The Daring and Magic Tree House Campers did many fun activities throughout the day including creek walks, hikes, crafts and for Daring Camp, Project Adventure.  After camp was our 2ND CARNIVAL NIGHT!  It was a huge success!  So many families came out for ice cream, the bouncy house, family games, delicious dinner, Project Adventure, a critter craft, creek walks and stories in the tree house.  It was a great evening for all!

Field Trip Wednesdays

Today was actually a great day for field trips!  The cloudiness was great because it helped keep us cool!  The Magic Tree House campers were off for a cruise on the Goodtime III.  Pardon the pun, but it was definitely a GOODTIME!  We enjoyed learning about Cleveland as we traveled on the Cuyahoga River and then loved cruising in Lake Erie for a bit at the end.  The Daring Campers were close by, as they enjoyed looking around the Crawford Auto and Aviation Museum, eating lunch at Wade Oval and then having a tour of the William G. Mather steamship at the Great Lakes Science center!  What a fun day!
